We are the largest multi-professional intensive care membership organisation in the UK and are dedicated to supporting our members from all professions in critical care.

Why become a member?

We can add significant value to your career.

We are your voice. We amplify your collective voice to raise the profile of critical care.

We provide many avenues for networking, in the form of events, digital media, the opportunity to be involved in groups and committees, and through our collaborations with other organisations.

We offer access to learning, focussed on subjects our members have asked us to deliver. Our Learning Portal, implemented in early 2021, is available exclusively to our members.

Our FUSIC accreditation programme for critical care focused ultrasound allows you to design your own learning pathway, and members receive a discount.

State of the Art is the largest critical care congress in the UK and biggest multi-professional meting in Europe. Along with opportunities for presenting your work and networking with colleagues from around the world, our members also have access to a discounted rate.

Our groups and divisions give our members the opportunity to have their voices heard. From our Standards and Guidelines Committee developing and publishing evidence-based standards and guidelines, to our multiple Professional Advisory Groups representing their intensive care professions, there are plenty of ways to get involved and help shape the future of intensive care.

We know that wellbeing is crucial for our members, so our Wellbeing Hub is home to resources for individuals and teams to provide you with support. You can also get access to support for developing ICU psychology services.

All our members have access to up to £1,000,000 of personal accident insurance for patient transfers.

We award grants to research into ICU, and our research award winners have gone on to attain substantial additional NIHR portfolio funding following our support.

The Journal of the Intensive Care Society (JICS) strives to disseminate clinically and scientifically relevant peer-reviewed research, evaluation, experience and opinion to all staff working in the field of intensive care medicine. Our members receive a quarterly copy.

Our members have access to a lifestyle reward scheme with great exclusive offers.

As a member, you can access discounted membership to the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM).  You also receive 20% off Crit-IQ membership – an online resource with educational material, podcasts, exam support, echocardiography teaching and a journal club.

We produce podcasts and webinars throughout the year, and our members are the first to know when they’re released, or to be asked to share their knowledge as speakers.

We run public campaigns to deliver members’ messages and enable us to do even more of what members ask from us.
